Canadian funds aiding churches in New York and Washington

Winnipeg, Man.

On September 11, 2001, Gordon Friesen was at Mennonite Disaster Service meetings discussing whether MDS should expand its scope of response. Friesen is chair of MDS Region V (Canada).

The disaster of that day led to the MDS Restoring Hope Project in New York City. The project assists Mennonite churches in New York respond to the emotional, spiritual and economic damage of September 11. MDS also became aware that several churches needed building repairs or renovations for outreach programs.
