NEW YORK -- The federal response to the recent outbreak of a West Nile-like virus reveals troubling gaps in emergency preparedness in the event of a biological terrorist attack, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer said Sunday.
Calling the outbreak the closest example yet of what a biological attack on the United States might look like, Schumer called for a ``top-to-bottom audit'' of the handling of the outbreak and the naming of a ``terrorism czar'' to better coordinate responses to a possible attack.
