Fed: Democrats surprised at Labor s datacasting plan
CANBERRA, Feb 6 AAP - The Australian Democrats were today surprised but ready to assess
Labor's plan to try to free up government restrictions on datacasting.
Opposition communications spokesman Stephen Smith today announced that Labor would
try to amend the government's datacasting laws, passed by parliament last year.
The moves would broaden the definition of datacasters to give providers more scope
to transmit sound and pictures.
Under current rules datacasters are prevented from showing anything that resembles
free-to-air …
